2017 Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

It is the fine focus that drives the character of the 2017 Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a dark black-purple hue, bright aromatics, and a generous yet precise palate impression. Immediately on the nose are notes of red raspberry, loam, incense, and fresh blackberries. It enters the palate with a rush of flavor, then broadens and lengthens through the finish. There is excellent structure, even as the wine is balanced and nimble. It is built for the long haul and should age for more than a decade.

Vintage notes

Each year we learn more about this special place, this quiet corner in the far reaches of the Napa Valley. 2017, our third release from the estate, brought many valuable lessons.

We learned about strength and fortitude—in the vineyard, in the resulting wines, and in the community we cherish. It was also the first year we were able to play with the entire vineyard, some blocks being previously committed to other producers, and other blocks newly planted by our team. Letting our pioneering spirit be the guide, we crafted blending components that eventually led us to a new wine: Blacktail. This new wine stands shoulder to shoulder with our Cabernet Sauvignon offering, but draws from many of the varieties that thrive on our estate.

It is truly a proprietary blend that showcases the character of our unique ranch, and as our understanding of the terroir grows, so will this exciting wine.

Safe journeys,
XAVIER CERVANTES | PROPRIETOR
