2015 Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

2015 was a vintage that saw little rain but ample sunshine throughout the growing season. Vines on the hillside blocks of our estate vineyard were forced to send down deep roots to find the resources needed to ripen a small but intensely aromatic crop. The fruit was harvested at night in small picks for optimal flavor and ripeness. Fermenting separately in the winery allowed us to appreciate the profile and pure expression of each wine. After a full year of barrel aging, these lots were carefully blended to create a wine with notable depth and balance.

The 2015 Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon is deeply colored, highly structured and full of classic Cabernet character. The vintage is defined by its endless layers of complexity - blackberry, licorice, graphite, dried sage, as well as rich notes of plum, chocolate and allspice from the twenty months in French oak barrels. The tannins are rounded and polished, but with ample framework that will help the wine age for decades to come

Vintage notes

We went in search of our dream, and found Napa Valley's last frontier.
Here, just over the peak of Howell Mountain, sits our 1,000-acre ranch. Within it is the five-acre hillside vineyard, originally planted in 1998, that is the source of our Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon.

To Celebrate our inagural release, we commissioned artist Raphael Macek to capture scenes from our ranch which reflect the spirit of our land. Please enjoy this print, "Horizon" as our gift to you.

We are excited to share the first fruits of our labor with you, In turn, we hope you'll enjoy this wine with family and friends, and share a vision of the land it comes from- a part of Napa Valley we've only just begun to explore- yet promising adventure and great wine from generations to come.

Safe journeys,
XAVIER CERVANTES | PROPRIETOR
