2022 Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

The 2022 Cervantes Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, and 8% Malbec, all from our estate vineyard. While the California sun shines in the fruit character of the wine, it is distinctly old world in style, with structured tannin, ample acidity, and a bright future in terms of ageability. On the nose and palate, notes of black cherry, pomegranate, dried flowers, and sandalwood bring a complex profile. The wine is mouthwatering and expansive, but highly enjoyable in its youth.

We’ve always said that farming is an active pursuit, not a passive one. 2022, the third year of an extended drought in California, required us to take the driver’s seat in the vineyard. Precision irrigation in the spring allowed us to ensure strong canopies, while the targeted use of overhead sprinklers meant we were able to reach full maturity without sacrificing freshness and nuance in the fruit at harvest. All of this effort is reflected in the Cervantes wines from 2022, which exhibit the subtlety and sense of place that we strive for.
